Why networking basics still matter
Security feels much clearer when I understand packets, ports, DNS, routes and Linux tools.
Sometimes I want to jump directly to advanced security topics. But networking basics keep coming back.
When I use tools like ping, dig, ss, or tcpdump, I see that many security problems are also network problems.
The important thing is not memorizing everything. The important thing is building a mental model: client, server, port, protocol, route, response.
I want to keep learning this slowly, because strong basics make the advanced tools less mysterious.
