Haitao Zheng

I’m Haitao, also known as Tao. I study cyber security in Germany and learn by building tools, reading existing systems and contributing changes upstream.

Security and infrastructure

I am interested in the places where those fields overlap: authentication boundaries, cloud configuration, useful audit evidence and the tools people use to investigate problems.

My accepted upstream work includes SSH behavior in pyinfra, CloudFormation validation in cfn-lint, and security checks in Prowler. My own projects let me make the product and implementation decisions together.

I’m early in my career. The code, tests, reviews and case studies on this site show the work I can already do and the areas I’m developing next.

B.Sc. Cyber Security & Privacy. Programming, systems, networking, mathematics and privacy form the foundation underneath my project work.

December 2024 – June 2025 / Bielefeld

FHM / University preparation

Completed the university preparatory pathway and Feststellungsprüfung. Developed academic German to C1 during the transition to studying in Germany.

Completed the CS50x course: algorithms, data structures, C, Python, SQL and a final programming project.

Beyond the keyboard

I photograph portraits, everyday life and landscapes with a Nikon D750. Cycling, strength training and team sports give me another way to stay curious and consistent.

I work in English and German, speak Mandarin and Hokkien, and have basic Japanese.
